One of the best things about Jackie Kashian is her ownership of the true dork persona. We're talking Final Fantas,y she-even-married-a-game-desginer dork. Since we're all big dorks here at 24/7 Comedy she fits right in. In fact, her she is at the Comedy Cellar in 1984! Best. Picture. Ever.
Even her delivery has a hint of dork twang, and there is an adorableness about her that draws you in and holds you to every word. Kashian started her comedy career in Wisconsin. She was quickly put up by Bill Kinison, brother to the legendary Sam Kinison, and and continued honing her craft. Post-college Kashian moved to Minneapolis where she and Maria Bamford developed a friendship that stands to this day, the two often perfom together. Anyone who says women aren't funny are sorely mistaken, and these two are a fine mark of the female comic.
Jackie holds her comedy court via Los Angeles and on top of a constant schedule of touring comedy clubs and festivals around the world, she still has time to host her own podcast, The Dork Forest.
Listen all week for Jackie as she talks about what it's like to be a successful stand up comedian, the road she's traveled to get there and of course, her comedy friends! Enjoy :)
